Survival from sudden cardiac arrest depends on how quickly help is provided.

Without CPR and defibrillation, survival is typically less than 10%

When bystander CPR is started promptly and an AED is used early, survival can increase to more than 40%

Survival chances decrease by 10% for every minute that immediate CPR and use of an AED is delayed.

Everyone Can Be a Lifesaver

You don’t need medical training to use an AED:

  • AEDs give clear voice and visual prompts

  • They are designed for use by everyday people in real emergencies

  • They automatically analyze the heart rhythm and determine whether a shock is needed

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a life-threatening medical emergency in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating effectively.

Without immediate treatment, sudden cardiac arrest is often fatal.

Each year, approximately 400,000 Americans experience sudden cardiac arrest, and only about 10% survive.

Supported by the Rotary Club of Ojai in partnership with Gables of Ojai, the program reflects a shared commitment to community safety and practical service. Our goal is simple: to ensure that more gatherings across the Ojai Valley are equipped to respond quickly and confidently in an emergency.
